GIRL SCOUTS TO RECEIVE RELIGIOUS MEDALS This year, 14 Girl Scouts from Rockland will be recognized for completing programs of study on the Catholic faith. These studies were in addition to their usual scout work and after required meetings, discussions, writings, reflections, and individual study. The Brownie Girl Scouts, along with their parents, discover the presence of God in their daily lives as members of their family and parish. On next Sunday, May 21, 2006, the girls will receive their religious medals, “Family of God”, at the 9AM Mass here at Holy Family. The following girls will be recognized: Kelsey Girard, Sara Merzon, and Samantha Ulich. Junior Girls Scouts have devoted time studying and gaining a deeper understanding of the Catholic Church. These girls will receive the “I Live My Faith” medal at a ceremony at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston on Sunday, May 21st . The following girls will be recognized: Emily Ashton, Emily Beasley, Janelle Critch, Laura Damore, Cara Goudy, Alexis Hogan, Lisa Howes, Kayla MacNeil, Ashley Merzon, and Annie Plummer. The Spirit Alive is designed for the Teen level of Girl Scouts. The purpose of this program is to assist youth in discovering how the Holy Spirit moves with their lives, calling them to greater participation in the ministry of the church. Elisabeth Erwin will receive this medal at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross on Sunday, May 21st. Girl Scout leader Marie Erwin will receive the Sister Elizabeth Anne Seton Medal in recognition of her work with the youth of the Boston Archdiocese and her leadership in Catholic Girl Scouting. |
